Author and Books

I have drawn my sword and battled the best the internet has to throw at me, fending off the "buy this guide to self-publishing" pages, and the "here's a helpful guide so complicated it will make you cry" pages and the "heck no I'm only here to sell my own book pages" to find my way to the published-book castle.

I stand before you, triumphant in taking on Createspace and Amazon Author Central and hold before you not just one dragon head, but several.  Hold on, I'm not that sort of gal, chopping off heads, heck no. Try again: I hold before you several treasures, or little gems, if I may, that I have independently published. Getting them up the sales ranks, now that's a whole different battle. Always appreciate a purchase or two, support living artists, the dead ones don't need the money. Time to sharpen the sword.

Och the noo, heavens to jings, it really does hurt when a jellyfish stings! The Day the Jellyfish Came Raining Down is my most recent short story book, which I have added colour illustrations to, and I'm happy to be able to bring another favourite past time of drawing from its dusty forgotten enclave back into use. Suitable for ages 6+ and is great as a read aloud bedtime story.

The Secret of Highcroft Castle is a short adventure story, I wrote something comforting and familiar, echoing memories of books from my own childhood, about treasure hunters.

A boy called George discovers clues in a school song that suggest there may be hidden treasure hidden in the ruins of Highcroft Castle.  Its a race against time as the nasty Norman Highcroft threatens to demolish the castle and sell George's home.

Can he find the treasure before the end of summer?

Dancing in the Mists of Time is my first full length novel, released in 2016, available on Amazon Kindle and in Paperback.  Suitable for adults and teenagers, it tells the story of Alice's adventures with time travelling pirates after she believes she can see a pirate ship hidden in the mist in her back garden.  You might recognise local places from the Scottish Borders like Dryburgh Abbey as a source of inspiration, or the legends surrounding Hermitage Castle and the Dark Lord De Soulis.  If not, go visit them, they're awesome

Unfinished Business was aiming to be my first foray into the crime genre, intending to be a murder mystery, but I think its finished up being more of a bitter-sweet adventure novel with a bit of crime and spaghetti western mixed in. Colton Cooper's life is turned upside down when a stranger enters his life with a dark past and deeply hidden secrets. Read on as his tale unfolds from his upbringing in the Scottish Borders to his travels in Spain, to his final plans for revenge.

Unfinished Business - The Revenge of Colton Cooper is my second novel, released in 2017 and is available on Amazon Kindle and in Paperback, by clicking here Unfinished Business

p.s I'm sorry if the text on this page isn't all the same size, dammit Jim, I'm not an IT genius, I'm a river pirate, and try as I might I have been unable to tame all the words and choose to let them roam free on the page rather than not at all.
